Since 2016

A place to breathe, among Ubud’s rice fields.

Balinese temple on a lake

Mala Yoga Studio opened in 2016 in Kadek Ayu Lestari’s family rice barn in Pengosekan. We kept it small on purpose: one open-air bamboo shala facing the paddies, 12 mats, and never more than three classes a day.

A mala is a string of 108 beads used to count breaths in meditation. That is how we think about practice: one breath, one bead, every day.
