Choosing the right yoga mat
Thick, thin, natural rubber, or TPE. A quick guide before you buy.
A 4–5 mm mat is kind to knees and great for Hatha or Yin. A 2–3 mm mat is more stable for standing poses and easy to travel with.
Natural rubber gives the best grip, which matters in a humid place like Bali. The downside: it is heavier and smells at first.
TPE is light and affordable but slippery when sweaty. Add a mat towel if you love Vinyasa.
At Mala, natural rubber mats are free in every class. Try a few before you decide to buy.
