Practising yoga in a tropical climate
Humid, hot, and sweaty. How to enjoy practice in Bali without burning out.
Ubud averages 27°C with high humidity. Your body warms up faster and joints feel looser, but you also lose fluid faster.
Drink 400–500 ml of water an hour before class, not right before you start. Coconut water is a great choice afterwards to replace electrolytes.
Because you feel more flexible, don't be tempted to go deeper than usual. Ligaments still need time to adapt.
Bring a small towel and wear quick-dry fabrics. Our shalas are open-air with ceiling fans, so air keeps moving without AC.
