Hatha or Vinyasa: which one is for you?

The two styles we get asked about most at the front desk. Here is the difference.

Hatha and Vinyasa both come from the tradition of physical yoga, but they feel very different on the mat.

Hatha holds each pose for longer, usually five breaths or more. There is time to set your feet, open the chest, and feel the effect of the pose. It suits beginners, people recovering from injury, and anyone who wants to understand the foundations.

Vinyasa links poses to breath: one movement, one breath. The pace is quicker, the body warmer, and sequences change from class to class. It suits you if you like to move and want some cardio.

Not sure? Start with Hatha for two weeks, then try Jungle Vinyasa. Many of our students end up doing both: Hatha in the morning, Vinyasa when they need energy.
